@bookstodon I’ve written a few thoughts on Casting Off, 1997, by Elizabeth Jane Howard, the fourth in the Cazalet Chronicles series, in which the family adjust to peacetime living in a changed England. @sarahmatthews @bookstodon fab series! I’ve never managed to get into any of EJH’s other books as it just feels wrong without Polly, Clary & co. I must try again. Or maybe just reread these. 
@nocto @bookstodon I’ve heard they’re good but I’ll wait a while before I try them I think. Her autobiography, Slipstream, is meant to be excellent so I’ll get that one before I try anything else of hers
@sarahmatthews @bookstodon I re-read them all at the end of last year, they’re such great stories. I found this last one quite sad though.
@thebaywindowgirl @bookstodon Yes it’s very sad and sombre in tone. I’ll be rereading them all in a few years’ time I’m sure, kind of comfort reading as you know the characters so well!

@brian_hartgen So wonderful, I don’t know how she managed to write all those characters and keep it all from being confusing for the reader, quite a skill!
