Monday was Canada Day, and to celebrate, the country's National Film Board curated a series called Canada as Seen by NFB Filmmakers. This is arranged in 14 playlists — one for each province/territory and one to highlight francophones outside Quebec. NUVO takes a look at what's in the collection; you can view the whole collection at the second link.

“Early [1967] video description of the first operational GIS, the Canada GIS. The "father of GIS," Roger Tomlinson is highlighted. It is also an excellent description of how GIS operates today although the technology is considerably more advanced than when CGIS was first developed…”

the National Post is Canada's premier conservarag but blessed is the lowly media editor who was tasked with the job of adorning the editorial accompanied by this ridiculous headline.

if you teach linguistics, this is a perfect sample for an intro on semiotics.

🇨🇦 Conservative media says:
"The prime minister's #CanadaDay message fell flat, while #Poilievre's showed genuine concern for the issues affecting Canadians."

Canadians say:

"One gave a message of celebration & joy for all Canadians.
The other didn't miss a chance to slam the govt & brag about one of his phony slogans planted on the side of the highway"

"One genuinely loves the country.
The other can't even get a security clearance."

PMJT changed his #CanadaDay schedule after Princess Anne suffered a medical emergency. The rest of #Canada should appreciate that July 1st means something different to Newfoundland & the presence of PMJT was important this anniversary year because Princess Anne was unable to attend.
“It is with deep regret that I am unable to be with you today, as you commemorate the brave efforts & sacrifices of the members of the #Newfoundland Regiment who went into battle on the first day [July] of the Somme.

This #CanadaDay, PMJT delivered remarks to highlight the 100th anniversary of the Newfoundland National War Memorial, as well as the interment of the remains of an unknown Newfoundland First World War soldier.

Canadian media claimed PMJT was a coward & hiding in NL. away from #Ottawa with his small group of supporters as "this would be his last Canada Day as PM". Nowhere does it state there is an obligation to be in Ottawa every July 1 - it's #Canada Day, not Ottawa day.
c'mon #CdnMedia!

I think OC Transpo could have done a much better job to accommodate the out of town visitors on Canada Day. At the very least, certain lines should have had more frequent buses or double deckers. Every bus I was on was packed like sardines and a lot of the visitors were confused and not sure where to go.
