If you are blind/vi, would you opt-in getting sight if the opportunity presented itself?
@mcourcel I'm going to provide a response that's not in your poll. I would be interested in having full vision as a result of medical intervention, provided that the procedure was ethical. To be specific, I would refuse to do it if it involved using stem cells from human embryos.
@DavidGoldfield Ah, that's an interesting take. That would be cool if that could work.
@mcourcel If the procedure involved using adult stem cells I would have no issues with it. Also, one thing I won't do has to have anything inserted into my brain and I'd even refuse to have a chip inserted somewhere in my eye. I think I'd draw the line with chips; if the company that produced it went out of business then I'm stuck with an unsupported computer in my head.
@DavidGoldfield And that happened to a few folks with Second Sight. They should be able to figure out how to send things wirelessly.
@mcourcel I'd feel more comfortable with having more vision if it involved selective gene editing or genetic manipulation.
